Delivery & live arrival
Posting live animals is a responsibility we take seriously. Here is exactly how it works.
How your shrimp travel
Shrimp are packed in oxygen-rich breather bags with a sprig of moss to cling to, cushioned inside an insulated polystyrene-lined box. From October to April we include a 72-hour heat pack; in high summer we switch to cool packs. Each box is clearly marked as live animals.
We dispatch Monday to Wednesday only, so no shrimp ever sits in a depot over a weekend. Orders placed after the Wednesday cut-off are lovingly held in our tanks until the following Monday.
Services & cost
Royal Mail Tracked 24, £7.95. Next-day for most of the UK, tracked to your door. Free on orders over £60.
We currently ship to mainland UK addresses. Northern Ireland, Highlands and Islands are fine too. Delivery there can take an extra day, so we pack for it.
The live arrival guarantee
Every order is covered. If any shrimp doesn’t survive the journey, send us a clear photo of the shrimp in its unopened bag within two hours of delivery, and we will replace it or refund it, whichever you prefer. No quibbles and no return postage.
One small ask: someone needs to be in to receive the box on the first delivery attempt. A shrimp’s least favourite holiday destination is a courier van.
Settling your new arrivals
Float the unopened bag in your tank for 20 minutes, then drip-acclimatise for an hour or two, going slower for Caridina. Net the shrimp into the tank (don’t pour the bag water in), keep the lights low for the first day, and resist the urge to feed until tomorrow. They will be grazing happily before you know it.
